Here are the steps you can follow to fix QuickBooks read-only error: Close QuickBooks and restart your computer Sometimes restarting your computer can help clear up any issues that are causing the QuickBooks read-only error. Check the file properties Right-click on the company file and select Properties. Uncheck the box that says Read-only and click Apply. Check the file permissions Make sure you have the necessary permissions to access and edit the file. You may need to check with your system administrator if you are not sure about the permissions you have. Disable antivirus or firewall software Sometimes antivirus or firewall software can interfere with QuickBooks and cause read-only errors. Try temporarily disabling any antivirus or firewall software and see if that resolves the issue. Run QuickBooks as an administrator Right-click on the QuickBooks icon and select
